Projector — Assumptions

Generic facts that apply to every projector at the centre, regardless of space. The per-space projector reference pages assume everything on this page and only list what is specific to that room.

Naming and addresses

  • Projector host names follow <space>-proj<n>.c.itn.liu.se, e.g. vr-proj1.c.itn.liu.se or eckerberg-proj01.c.itn.liu.se.
  • Every Barco projector serves a web interface on port 9999, e.g. vr-proj1.c.itn.liu.se:9999. Credentials are in Bitwarden, never in this site.
  • On the Dome's ENA-340 network, projector-side decoders use 172.19.7.x where x is the unit number on the Barco status page.

Is the projector actually on?

Fastest checks, in order:

  1. Barco status page — barco-status.c.itn.liu.se. If the decoder feeding a projector shows state: OK at the expected resolution (e.g. 4096x2160p60), the signal chain up to the projector is alive. A decoder showing 0x0 usually means the projector (or its source) is off.
  2. Projector web interface (port 9999) — shows power state, lamp/laser hours, temperature and active alarms.
  3. Zabbix overview of the matrix — c-zabbix2.itn.liu.se/barco/, reachable from anywhere. First section lists decoders, second the encoders.

Power and cooldown

  • Projectors run a cooldown after being switched off. Never cut power at the PDU during cooldown — it shortens the light source's life and can cause a fault on the next start. Use the space's control system (Showmaster tech panel) to shut rooms down in the proper sequence.
  • A projector fault can be a chiller fault: in the Dome each projector has a separate chiller, often in another room. Check the chiller before condemning the projector.

Calibration — hands off

  • Warp, blend and edge-matching are calibrated per projector position. Projectors are not field-swappable in the Dome, VR-Arena or Decision Arena — swapping one requires full recalibration. Escalate instead.
  • Never "fix" a misaligned or double image by adjusting calibration settings. That is an escalation item, not a runtime fix.
  • Rear-projection spaces (VR-Arena) mirror physical knocks: a bumped projector shifts the image in the opposite direction from what you would expect.
TODO verify with senior technician

Confirm the exact cooldown duration for the XDL-4K30 and F90-4K13-3D, the alarm codes that require immediate escalation (vs. those that clear on restart), and whether the Zabbix overview page is still maintained.
